The arrangement for rotating the rotor of a gas turbine for inspection comprises a mechanism (15) which can be inserted through a opening (13a) in the turbine housing (13) and is provided with systems (17, 19, 30) permitting a jet of pressurised gas to be directed at the rotor blades (31) to rotate the rotor. Further systems (23, 24) can be brought into contact with the rotor to brake this. The mechanism may comprise a cylinder (16) for connection to an air pressure source, a piston (17) with tubular piston rod (19) carrying a brake shoe (24) and having an air inlet (29) and an external lateral outlet nozzle (30), and a spring (23) providing the braking force.
