The machine (10) has a pair of rearwardly-divergent frame units (14a, 14b), each having a tool-holding shaft (22). Each shaft is associated with two tool-holding bars (26, 28), one in front of the shaft and one behind it. The tool-holding bars carry deep-tilling implements (30) and the tool-holding shafts carry disc- like tools (20). Each tool-holding shaft is connected to the associated frame unit such that the relative height thereof is adjustable. The distance between an implement (30) and the associated disc-like tool (20) is at most six times the tilling depth of the implement.
