A process for the preparation of 1-aryl-2- (4-diarilmetilpiperazin-1-yl) ethanones

1-Aryl 2-(4-diarylmethyl piperazin-1-yl) ethanones of formula (I), (in which Ar1 and Ar2 are phenyl, pyridinyl or thienyl, R1 R2 and R3 are H, lower alkyl or alkoxy or other, and X is halogen) are made by treating a cpd. of formula (II) with a diarylmethyl piperazine of formula (III) by diphase nucleophilic substitution, in a solvent such as benzene, acetone or other, at 0-120 deg. C, to obtain (I) and its physiologically-acceptable addn. salts.
