ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURELaminate of nonwoven fabric having uniqueproperties suitable especially for use as a recreationalfabric in the manufacture of tents, outer garments,tarpaulins and the like. The laminate includes, asessential components, an outer spunbonded layer treatedfor resistance to ultraviolet radiation and intended asthe exposure surface, an inner microporous meltblownlayer, preferably densified for resistance to liquidstrike-through, and, on the unexposed surface, anothernonwoven layer treated for flame retardancy. Thecombination optionally includes additional pigments inthe exposed surface layers for desired appearance aswell as pigments and/or ultraviolet radiation resistancetreatment in the inner meltblown layer. As additionaloptions, further layers of meltblown or spunbondednonwovens may be included to attain desired physicalproperties. The resulting material provides a uniquecombination having excellent properties for recreationalfabric uses, especially water repellency, breathability,resistance to degradation by ultraviolet radiation andflame retardancy.
