Extraction of a metallic compound, in particular of groups II to VIII of the Periodic Table of the Elements, from an aqueous solution, using a hydrophobic liquid and in the presence of a surfactant, with production of a microemulsion. According to the invention, the aqueous solution has a pH of approximately 0.5 to 8 and the surfactant, used for the creation of the microemulsion, is nonionic or anionic.
