AbstractThe invention relates to a process for the recovery ofvaluable metals from sulfidic, silicate-containing rawmaterials by slurrying the raw material in water, bysubjecting the slurry to a selective leach underatmospheric conditions and in an acidic milieu, and byseparating the valuable-metal containing solution fromthe solid leach residue.When the leach is carried out by introducing an oxygen-bearing gas into the slurry which contains finely-dividedsulfide and carbon, the acidity of the slurry drops in acontrolled manner so that a high efficiency of oxygen, anda high selectivity of the leach as regards valuablemetals, are obtained. Owing to the presence of carbonthe oxygen is reduced very easily and so oxygenefficiency is high and the rate of dissolving of thevaluable metals increases in the slurry mixture.
