ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE:In a method of introducing a starter bar head of a starterbar into the through-type mould of a horizontal continuouscasting plant, the mould is removed from the continuouscasting plant and placed vertical. Then the starter barhead separated from the starter bar is threaded into themould and fixed in its position relative thereto. Themould, together with the starter bar head fixed to it, isinstalled into the plant. Subsequently, the starter barhead is coupled with the starter bar lying in the strandguide and then the fixation of the starter bar head is un-done. In an arrangement for carrying out this method, thestarter bar head has a larger longitudinal extension thanthe aftercooling means. One end of it projects into themould cavity and the other end is connectable with thestarter bar outside of the aftercooling means. A fixingmeans for the starter bar head introduced into the mouldis provided.
