Abstract of the DisclosureA mailbox having a mail carrier door and an owner'sdoor with a signal flag moveably mounted thereatop toindicate the presence or absence of mail therein. Amechanism within the mailbox has a pair of slidablemembers mounted to a downwardly extending bracket with aflag rod extending through each member and moveablethereby. A pair of springs urge the first member towardthe mail carrier door and the second member against theowner's door. A pivotable extension mounted to the mailcarrier door is engaged by the mechanism to preventopening thereof until the owner's door is open allowingthe second member to slide therethrough releasing theextension.
