ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA system for the on-line analysis and topographicdisplay of human brain electrical activity is disclosed,it includes amplifying filtering and converter circuits forgenerating a plurality of signals, representing electricalactivity at a plurality of predetermined data pointlocations on a patient's head in digital form. A firstmicroprocessor and associated circuits preprocess the digitalsignals into a predetermined format, and a second microprocessorand associated topographic map generator form an imagecomputation. A display unit receives th~ preprocessed digitalsignals as inputs from the image computation and displayunit. The topographic map generator defines a map of aplan or elevation view of the brain containing a pluralityof pixel points far in excess of the number of data pointsand interpolates the digital signals, so as to provide avalue for each pixel on the map. The pixel informationis provided as outputs in synchronism with a horizontaland vertical scan. A video monitor receives the outputof the image computation as an input of a display unit.
