ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREAn electrical shorting switch assembly for usewith an electrolytic cell includes a plurality of parallelpath electrical switches. One of the switches is anarching switch which is designed to be a last-to-open andlast-to-close switch of the assembly. A common rotatableoperating shaft is used to actuate opening and closing ofthe electrical switches. The arc switch has separatelinking means between the arc switch and the shaft whichpermits sequental operation of the arc switch relative tothe main current-carrying switch or switches. The arcswitch linking means in conjunction with the linking meansfor the current switches determine that the arc switch isthe last to open and last to close.
