The method is for preventing erroneous measurement of flow levels below the calibrated range of a flow measurement device and is applicable to gas meters and involves the use of a pressure regulation system. The pressure regulation system passes alternately between the operating and rest modes dependent on the press of the medium in the output chamber downstream of the regulator. This is achieved without the use of external energy. The operating phase begins when the pressure falls to a lower limit and the medium is fed to the conduction system. The quiescent phase begins when the pressure reaches an upper limit and involves the stopping of the medium throughput and supply of the medium to the load from the conduction system.
