In the case of a method for monitoring the heat transfer for heat flow points the incoming and/or outgoing thermal capacities are constantly measured at brief time intervals at each heat flow point. The method is particularly suitable for determining the individual heat consumption in the case of communally used heat supply facilities of buildings and for the monitoring of heat flows in industrial plants. A device for determining the thermal capacities comprises a sensor to be laterally inserted into the pipeline, by means of which the hydrodynamic force and temperature of the fluid are measured.
