For a drive of a hydraulic press with a high stroke frequency, in particular an open-die forging press, which drive comprises a plurality of main pumps which are connected in parallel and can be reversed in the direction of delivery, to which the pressure medium is fed from the reservoir via at least one feed pump, the charging pressure required for pressing and present in this feed line being maintained by a back-pressure valve, the arrangement of the pipes leading to the main pumps is such that no reversal of the direction of the delivery flow occurs in the feed line upon stroke reversal.
