To reduce the emissions of pollutants in the operation of incinerator plants, in which fossil fuels are burned, and also in the incineration of industrial waste, special additives of calcium carbonate and hexagonal carbon as well as residual products from the sugar industry are added to the incineration material. The same additives are then also added in a downstream chemisorption stage, further immobilisation of the pollutants taking place on contacting with the hot flue gases. The additives used in the second stage can, after partial loading, be recycled to the first stage for the incineration.
