In a U-shaped closure clip made of metal strip material for tubular or bag-type packaging wrappings, the material profile consists, according to the invention, of a substantially rectangular base part, forming the inner region of the clip and having a width which is a multiple of the height, and of a rib part which forms the outer side of the clip and is constructed to be symmetrical to the central vertical plane on the base part, and whose height is at least equal to the height of the base part. The moment of resistance of the clip is thus increased considerably relative to the circular cross-section; the clip can be guided securely during closure, as a result of which twisting of the clip limbs is avoided. The wrapping to be closed is gripped reliably over a relatively large length and sealed off. The new profile can be used both in individual clips and in strips of clips. IMAGE
