Method and apparatus for increasing the effective power of the memory of an image reproduction system

PURPOSE:To utilize effectively a storage device and also to improve the image resolution of a copied picture by assigning a picture data obtained from the length of a required picture part to all storage capacity of the storage device. CONSTITUTION:A picture data corresponding to a thick solid line segment, i.e., lenght lP1 or lR1 (lP1/2 or lR1/2, lP1/4 or lR1/4) is assigned to all capacity of the storage device when magnification M is M1. Thus, the storage device is utilized effectively and the resolution is improved by assigning the picture data more than the case with a conventional method by memory elements' share required to store the picture data corresponding to a length l'P2 or l'R2 (l'P2/2 or l'R2/2, l'P2/4 or l'R2/4) shown in broken lines to the picture data obtained from a required original picture length.
