The invention relates to a hearing aid device which comprises two earpieces made from a specific sound-insulating material which are angled over the ears by means of a head bracket in such a way that a gap with an angle of aperture of around 40 DEG remains open in the direction of the sound source. The sound-insulating material must have different degrees of sound absorption for specific frequency ranges. The sound waves passing through the gap onto the inner surface are therefore absorbed to differing degrees in specific audio-frequency ranges and are correspondingly also reflected with differing intensities into the auditory canal of the ear. Through the use of sound-insulating material with specific degrees of absorption in specific audio-frequency ranges, the hearing curve of persons with impaired hearing can be improved in a targeted manner. To equalise attenuation loss and increase overall sound intensity, the sound-receiving surface of the earpiece must be correspondingly large and its shape designed in such a way that an optimum amount of reflected sound reaches the ear.
