Block for erecting a system of flue-gas ducts, and furnace erected from blocks of this type

Blocks intended for the erection of a system of flue-gas ducts, e.g. in a furnace, are designed in the form of in each case a substantially right-angled hollow block which is open on the underside and which exhibits an opening in at least one side wall and/or in the top wall. The openings are preferably closed by relatively thin wall parts which can be broken out when erecting the flue-gas ducts in order to expose, in dependence on the spatial arrangement of the blocks, in each case one or more openings. A furnace erected by using the blocks has, on opposite sides of the combustion chamber, in each case at least one flue-gas duct which is formed from blocks located one above another and one next to another and runs upwards from the lower part of the combustion chamber. Above the combustion chamber, the flue-gas ducts formed from the blocks run towards one another and open into a common chimney flue.
