Process for controlling the injection moulding process of an injection moulding machine and device for carrying out the process

In an injection moulding machine in which molten plastic is injected into a metal moulding cavity by an injection process which consists of a filling step and a subsequent step for maintaining the pressure (holding pressure), the injection moulding operation is controlled in such a manner that the filling of the molten plastic into the metal moulding cavity is carried out at a high rate during the filling step, subsequently the injection process is changed over from the filling step to the holding pressure step and simultaneously a braking device is actuated in order to apply a braking force to the ram of the injection moulding machine and to stop the ram. The braking device remains engaged in order continuously to exert a constant force on the ram until the filling of a cavity of the metal mould is completed.
