Aircraft camera with retractable objective lens carrier - has motor driven rack and pinion gear on carrier controlled by pilot

A camera in an aircraft is used, by the pilot, to film when a button is pressed. An objective lens system is retracted when not in use and does not impair the pilots vision. A camera (1) has a telescopic objective lens carrier (2) which has a rack (3) on a lateral side. This engages with a pinion (4) driven by a motor (5) through a reduction gear (6) comprising an endless screw. The objective lens carrier is positioned when the camera is required and retracted when not in use.
