Wave generator for hydrodynamic testing appts. - oscillates capillary column extending above liq. to generate sinusoidal surface waves

The generator uses stimulated oscillation of a fluid column (5) to generate the sinusoidal surface waves in the fluid (1) above which the column extends. The fluid column (5) is obtained via a vertical tube section (3) with its open end dipping into the fluid (1) contained in the wave tank and made of a material and having a radius (r) such that the fluid column (5) rises up the pipe section by capillary action. Pref. the oscillations are generated by an electronic oscillator delivering an LF sinusoidal wave via an amplifier to a loudspeaker coil with the loudspeaker cone coupled via a connection line (6) to the space above the liquid column (5). The generator provides waves of precise amplitude and frequency.
