The film winder for a compact camera carried on an aircraft uses two spools (8,9) inside a housing (1), below a return roller (11,17) at each side, with further rollers (12,16) at each side of a central window (18). The spindles (22,23) for the two spools are attached to two arms (27,28) connected to a common hinge point (29). This point is attached to a short swinging arm (31) and can travel along an arc of a circle. Each spindle also travels along a horizontal guide slot (24,25) and the hinge point is also connected to one end of a spring (35) with its other end fixed. The full spool (8) is pulled by the spring against rollers (33,34) at one side of the housing.
