The gas sample is drawn in continuously at constant flow rate and/or pressure by a pump placed at the end of the path. The generated gas flow rate is made constant by adding an external gas which is inert for the analysis appts. in order to keep the pump flow rate constant. The flow rate is limited to a value lower than the drawn in gas flow rate of the pump. The total amount of analysed chemical is obtained by integration of the instantaneous results. The process is used to analyse sulphur di:oxide by UV fluorescence and/or NO by luminescent chemistry. The gas mixture is obtained by either combustion or pyrolysis. The arrangement uses two ovens, formed to allow the passage of a quartz analysis tube acting as an analysis chamber.
