The shaft seal (1) consists of two interlocking, pressed steel rings (2,3). The inner ring is fitted to the shaft (7) and is covered internally in the flexible sealing material (1). The seal has two sealing lips (10,11). The inner lip (11) rubs on the engaged branch (8) of the outer ring (2) and self-adjusts according to the relative axial movement of the two rings. The outer sealing lip (10) rubs on the inside surface of the outer branch (5) of the outer ring (2) and compensates for radial variation between the two rings.
