The airguide through which the material to be sampled is flowing has a removable section (2) inserted between the upstream (1a) and downstream (1b) parts of the pipe. The removable section is mounted in a stand (10) which has at least one supplementary pipe section (2a) to take the place of the first section when it is extracted by displacement of the stand. The stand takes the form of a plate translatable in a transverse direction to that in which the material is flowing. Alternatively, the stand may take the form of a disc rotatable about its axis, in a transverse plane to the direction in which the material is flowing. A sample of the material occupying the pipe at a given instant can therefore be taken. The device is applicable to pneumatic transport pipes other than airguides, and esp. to vertical pipes.
