To produce glyoxylic acid by oxidation in aqueous solution of glyoxal

Process for producing glyoxylic acid by oxidation of glyoxal in aqueous solution; it is an oxide of glyoxal with an aqueous composition of the oxidizing agent obtained from nitric acid and of a strong acid not oxidizing agent present in a concentration of 6 to 40% by weight in the reaction mixture, then the oxidizing agent is a strong acid, hydrochloric acid and the reaction is carried out by gradually adding nitric acid in the reaction mixture so that the concentration of nitric acid in the reaction mixture does not exceeds 1 by weight for the reaction.
