Vertical cultivation system for compact or trailing plants - uses suspended cylinders of inert material arranged in rows in north-south direction with ducted flow of nutrient solution

The cultivation system for strawberries, lettuces, tomatoes, and similar compact or trailing plants uses an inert substrate material with a system of supply of liquid plant nutrient through the substrate with the aid of capillaries. The substrate is formed as a vertical 'mattress' oriented in a north-south direction and defining two growing surfaces facing east and west respectively. The 'mattress' is formed of a succession of modular cylindrical elements, independent one of the other and placed side by side in a continuous plane. The cylinders are suspended and are rotatable about their vertical axis. Liquid nutrient is distributed through conduit with the flow controlled by solenoid valves.
