Automatic tester for multiple insulated conductor cable - has two pulse fed shift registers and comparator for fault detection

The automatic test device for multiple insulated conductor electric cables is of the type in which pulses are sent to a counter and to the conductors of the test cable. It has first and second shift registers fed simultaneously by the pulses and at least one comparator, one of whose series inputs is connected directly to the output of the first shift register and the other series input is connected via the test cable conductors to the second shift register. The comparator input signals are equal provided there are no cable faults. If there are cable faults the signals become different producing a change in the state of the comparator and suspending the application of pulses. Each of the conductors of the test cable is connected w.r.t. the comparator to an electroluminescent diode which identifies the rank of the corresp. input of the comparator. The counter counting the pulses displays the dank of the conductor which receives the pulse shifted by the second shift register when the electroluminescent diodes display the rank of inputs of the comparator which receive this pulse after passing through the cable.
