The machine includes a number of weighing balances for weighing the articles each at the same time. An arithmetic device selects some of the balances so that the total weight of the articles satisfies a predetermined condition. The selected balances are unloaded to collect the articles on and then loaded with new articles. Each balance is accompanies with one or more temporary holding hoppers and corresponding memories. The articles are distributed on the balance to these hoppers and, at the same time, weight information is transferred to the corresponding memories.
