The invention relates to the techniques of testing metals with a view to determining their mechanical properties. The device which is the subject of the invention is of the type comprising a framework 1, a mould 3, a punch 7 and an assembly for transmitting to the punch 7 the force developed by the power control of the test machine, and is characterised in that the framework 1 is provided with a recess 2 of rectangular cross section passing right through it, and in that the force-transmission assembly is made in the form of a rectangular frame 6 mounted by its lateral side in the said recess 2 and carrying on the internal surface of this same side the punch 7, whereas by its side opposite the said frame 6 is rigidly connected to the said power control, while the mould 3 is connected to the framework 1.
