The device for sampling liquid metal comprises a metallic bottle 1 contained in an elongate casing 2 made entirely from a brittle material, made up of refractory particles coated in a binder. This casing comprises a cavity 9 receiving and holding the bottle 1, a channel 12 connecting with this cavity and emerging outside the casing, and a recess 11 receiving the handle 7 for handling the device.
