THE INVENTION CONCERNS A STABLE ANTI-PLATE TOOTHPASTE HAVING IMPROVED FOAMING PROPERTIES AND CHEMICAL STABILITY OF THE FLUORIDE CONTENT. THE TOOTHPASTE CONTAINS A QUATERNARY AMMONIUM ANTI-PLAQUE COMPOUND. BETA-LIKE SURFACTANT FOR IMPROVING FOAMING WITHOUT DEACTIVATING THE ANTIBACTERIAL AND ANTI-PLAQUE ACTIVITY OF THE QUATERNARY AMMONIUM COMPOUND, A HUMECTANT CHOSEN BETWEEN POLYETHYLENE GLYCOL, SORBITOL AND THEIR MIXTURES, A NON-IONIC GELIFIER SUCH AS HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE, AND PREFERABLY A FLUORINE-CONTAINING COMPOUND CAPABLE OF SUPPLYING A FLUORIDE ION IN AN AQUEOUS VEHICLE CONTAINING A DENTAL ABRASIVE. THE SORBITOL COMPONENT, WHICH STABILIZES THE QUATERNARY BETA-COMPOUND SYSTEM, ALSO IMPROVES THE LONG-TERM CHEMICAL STABILITY OF THE FLUORIDE IN THE TOOTHPASTE. IN A POLYETHYLENE GLYCOL-TYPE HUMIDER, A SMALL QUANTITY OF GLYCERIN CAN BE USED, EG AS LESS THAN 1, IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THE LONG-TERM STABILITY OF FLUORIDE WITHOUT HARMFULLY AFFECTING THE COSMETIC STABILITY OF THE TOOTHPASTE. / P
