The heat exchanger 1 is of the static type with cross currents. It consists of a head box 3 open over two of its opposite faces and enclosing a hollow coil forming the circuit for a primary fluid coolant. The head box 3 is traversed from one side to the other by the flow of the secondary fluid which brushes against the outer wall of the coil during its passage. The coil of the heat exchanger 1 is formed from parallel vertical tubular elements 10 which are connected to each other at their tops and bottoms by sealed bent pipes 11 so as to form at least one continuous duct for the flow of the fluid coolant.
