This invention relates to a device for making a frictional connection between adjacent segments of channel-section support arches such as are used in the construction of tunnels. Such segments are commonly arranged so that they mutually overlap at their ends, adjacent segments being connected in the overlap zones by means of strap devices which each consist of a top strap (5) and a bottom strap (6) which are held together by bolts and nuts (7). In accordance with the present invention each of said top straps (5) is provided on its exterior with ribs (8) which extend radially outwards relative to the segments of the arch. Preferably each of said top straps (5) has two ribs (8), the spacing of said ribs being arranged so that they positively prevent rotation of the head of a bolt (7) disposed between the ribs. IMAGE
