PURPOSE:To provide flexibility to a stream through an isotope balancing reactor of each distillation tower to meet variations of feed conditions by making the flow of a stream to be fed back to said distillation tower adjustable. CONSTITUTION:Streams 31, 32 of high-purity tritium and heavy hydrogen are obtained from the top and bottom of a distillation tower 22 respectively. The amount of DT proportional to the feed speed of DT to the tower is separated into high-purity D2 and T2 by allowing for a sufficient feedback flow so that DT may disappear in an isotope balancing reactor 24 according to 2DT D2+T2. In addition, a change in the ratio of D-T in the feed can be met by adjusting the flows of the top gas, bottom liquid and feedback stream.
