PURPOSE:To provide the titled cloned gene containing a gene coding the polypeptide having reverse transcriptase activity and a vector DNA replicable in procaryote or eucaryote, exhibiting a specific sequence, and coding a reverse transcriptase. CONSTITUTION:A DNA modified by the recombination process comprising the insertion of a gene coded to produce a polypeptide having reverse transcriptase activity and the insertion of a vector DNA replicable in a cell, wherein the code sequence of said gene is positioned to the downstream side of the promoter sequence. A reverse transcriptase can be produced by transforming a procaryote or eucaryote with said DNA, and culturing said strain imparted with the productivity of reverse transcriptase in a medium aerobically in floated state.
