PURPOSE:To control stably the discharge of pig iron and slag from a blast furnace by definitely expressing the relation between the value of analysis of slag components and the temp. difference at the bottom of the furnace in the form of a statistical model so as to estimate a change in the temp. difference at the bottom of the furnace. CONSTITUTION:Thermometers are placed on the upper and lower sides of the central part of the bottom base plate of a blast furnace, and the resulting data on the temp. difference at the bottom of the furnace and data on the value of analysis of slag components which affect the flowability of the slag are stored for a fixed period. A dynamic model expressing the relation between the value of analysis of slag components and the temp. difference at the bottom of the furnace is identified by using the stored data. A change in the temp. difference at the bottom of the furnace with the lapse of time is estimated according to the model, and the kind, extent and period of action to be taken are decided. The temp. difference at the bottom of the furnace is controlled according to the decisions, and pig iron and slag are stably discharged.
