PURPOSE:To cast continuously a weakly deoxidized steel for a thin sheet having excellent surface and internal quality by stirring eletromagnetically a molten steel contg. a specific ratio each of C, Si, Mn, P, S, Al and N over the entire inside circumferential surface in a casting mold so that the molten steel flows upward. CONSTITUTION:The molten steel 4 contg. =0.12% C, =0.02% Si, =0.4% Mn, =0.015% P, =0.015% S, =0.02% Al and =0.030N is poured into the continuous casting mold 1. Electromagnetic stirring coils 2, 3 are respectively disposed to the surfaces of the wide face side 2 and narrow face side 2 of such mold 1 to generate upward flow in the molten steel 4 in the mold 1 over the entire inside circumferential surface of the mold walls. The rising of the inclusion and foam in the molten steel 4 is thus accelerated and the continuous casting billet of the weakly deoxidized steel having the excellent surface quality of the broad end part and narrow face in particular and the excellent internal quality is obtd.
