PURPOSE:To decrease the amt. of the spatter to be generated and to obtain a deflectless weld zone with respect to a wire contg. C and Cr as essential components for CO2 shielded hardening and build-up by specifying contents of C, O in the sheath, packing rate of flux and content of titanium oxide. CONSTITUTION:The contents of C and Cr, by the total weight of the wire, of the composite wire for CO2 shielded hardening and build-up are 0.10-0.80% (hereinafter wt%) C and 0.5-10.0% Cr. The C and O contents in the sheath of such wire are =0.035% C and 200-500ppm O. The weight ratio of the flux incorporated into the wire by the total weight of the wire is made 10-35% and the titanium oxide in the flux is 20-50% in terms of TiO2. The decrease of the amt. of the spatter to be generated is thus made possible and the deflectless weld zone is obtd.
