PURPOSE:A remedy for mycosis, containing (S)-2-amino-5-hydroxy-4-oxopentanoic acid as an antitubercular agent as an active constituent, and having a structure different from that of the conventional remedy and improved remedial effect with low toxicity. CONSTITUTION:A remedy for mycosis containing (S)-2-amino-5-hydroxy-4- oxopentanoic acid (hereinafter abbreviated to this substance) as an active constituent. This substance is capable of treating very well Candida albicans of mice, and is very useful as t remedy for the mycosis. This substance is a type different from that of the conventional remedy in the chemical structure and is a very specific remedy for the mycosis. The remedy can be administered continuously in a large does due to the low toxicity. The dose is preferably 100-4,000 mg/day.
