METHOD FOR WELDING JOINT OF STAINLESS STEEL/COPPER CLAD

PURPOSE:To eliminate the mixed melting of materials and to form a weld zone having the characteristics equal to the characteristics of a base metal by preparing respectively the stainless steel and copper parts of a stainless steel/copper clad material leaving the interposed nickel layer groove shapes and subjecting the groove to build with water of similar composition after welding the nickel layers to each other. CONSTITUTION:The three-layer clad material interposed with the nickel layer 3 therebetween is used in welding the joint of the stainless steel/copper clad material. The stainless steel 1 and copper 2 parts are respectively prepared to form edge shapes leaving the intermediate nickel layer 3. After the nickel layers are subjected to build up 3' with water of similar composition each other, the groove of the stainless steel 1 and copper 2 parts are subjected to eutectic build-up welding 1', 2'. The mixed melting of the materials is eliminated and the weld zone having the characteristics equal to the characteristics of the base metal is formed. The material deterioration of the weld zone is eliminated and the stable use of the welding materials over a wide range is made possible.
