PURPOSE:To measure accurately the wind leakage ratio of a sintering machine by a calculator by measuring wind quantity of a main exhaust, intake wind quantity in a wind box just under an igniting furnace, and the cumulative wind quantity in length direction of the machine on raw material layer on a pallet. CONSTITUTION:On the pallet 16 of Dwight-Lloyd sintering machine, a combining material 4 of sintering ore is fed from an ore feeding hopper 10 and ignited by the igniting furnace 22. While moving circulatedly the pallet 16 from left to right, air is sucked from the upper part of raw material layer by the main exhaust 26 through wind box to sinter the raw material layer. In this case, a main exhausted wind quantity VB is measured at a measuring point 36 between the exhaust 26 and a chimney 30 of the sintering machine, a wind quantity VF of the wind box 24 just under the furnace 22 is measured at a measuring point 38. A cumulative wind quantity VP in machine length direction on raw material layer on the moving pallet 16 is measured. These three measured values are inputted into the calculator 60, and the wind leakage ratio at the pallet 16 is calculated by the formula (1).
