METHOD FOR ADDING COMPOSITION REGULATING AGENT TO MOLTEN PIG IRON

PURPOSE:To add a composition regulating agent to molten pig iron in a high yield by agitating the molten pig iron to produce a flow, putting an obstacle in the flow, and adding the regulating agent to a turbulent flow produced behind the obstacle. CONSTITUTION:Molten pig iron 5 in a ladle 1 is mechanically agitated with an impeller 2 to produce a flow in the direction of arrows. An obstacle 3 is put in the flow of the molten pig iron 5 to produce a turbulent flow 4 behind the obstacle 3, and an alloy or a treating agent is added to the part 4 behind the obstacle 3. It is preferable that the obstacle 3 is composed of two flat plates having =about 90 deg. angular aperture theta. The composition regulating agent can be added in a high yield.
