MANUFACTURING METHOD OF COCOON-SHAPED ROTOR FOR ROOTS-TYPE FLUID SUPERCHARGER

PURPOSE:To make a Roots rotor surface finishable in a highly accurate manner, by sticking resin fast to an outer circumferential surface of the Roots rotor and, after being heated, finishing the surface of a resin layer with the surface forcibly pressed with a roller. CONSTITUTION:A resin layer 14 is formed on the surface of a metal Roots rotor 12 being made up into a cocoon-shaped form by means of casting or the like. Next, the rotor is heated till the resin layer is softened and comes into a state of being plasticized. And, finally, a finishing roller 36 is made to roll in a circumferential direction along the outer circumferential surface while forcibly pressing the outer circumferential surface of the rotor with constant pressure whereby the surface of the resin layer 14 of the rotor 10 finished up so as to be very smoothed as compared with a finishing process by means of cutting.
