PURPOSE:To easily level a strip by providing a control device of tension distribution and applying the tension distribution corresponding to the tension distribution of yield point on the width direction. CONSTITUTION:A strip 1 applied with tension by inlet side and outlet side bridle roll devices 2, 2' is leveled of its shape by the repetitive tension and plastic bending of the time when its passes a tension leveler 4 by the movement thereof. In a tension distribution control device 6 at this time, the tension distribution control rolls 6a, 6b are pressed to the strip 1 by the operation of cylinders 7. Thereby, this turns out that the tension along the shape of the rolls 6a, 6b is applied to the strip 1, and this enables the tension distribution corresponding to the yield point distribution to be created. If there is any change in the width or the change in the yield point distribution, it is also possible to change the tension distribution arbitrarily by operating cylinders 8 thereby moving slides 9 in the width direction.
