PURPOSE:To grasp the adhering condition of marine inhabitants in the tube of the heat exchanger without stopping the function of heat exchanger by a method wherein a bypass line is provided between the inlet and outlet chambers of seawater of the heat exchanger and the inhabitant monitoring section is provided on the way of the bypass line. CONSTITUTION:The bypass line, running the outside of a condenser, is provided between the seawater inlet chamber 2 and the seawater outlet chamber 4 of the heat exchanger and the inhabitant monitoring section 21 is provided on the way of the bypass line. The inhabitant monitoring section is equipped with a notched tube, having the same quality and the same diameter as the tube 3 for the heat exchanger and notched so as to be capable of inspecting the inside of the tube, a transparent sleeve wrapping the outside of the notched tube and a cover ring, capable of being turned at the outside of the transparent sleeve in the outer circumferential direction and keeping the inside of said notched tube in the same darkness as the same in said tube 3. Accordingly, the adhering condition of the marine inhabitant may be inspected by turning the cover ring to see the inner surface of the notched tube through the transparent sleeve.
