PREPARATION OF SIMULATION MICROCRACK MATERIAL

摘要

PURPOSE:To enable easy preparation of the simulation testing material having such a microcrack as is caused in metal material actually by means of an existing device by boring a small round hole in one end of a sample metal material, by heating the same up to softening temperature for heat treatment and by applying compression machining thereto. CONSTITUTION:The small round hole 2 of about 0.1-2.0mphi is made in a round- plate metal body 1, which is subjected to mirror finishing. The metal body 1 thus finished is contained in a container 3, packed in vacuum and heated up to the softening temperature for heat treatment. And, the metal body 1 packed in vacuum is placed on a die 4 and pressurized by a press 5. The amount of pressing is decided according to the form and size of the sample, a diameter of crack required and the form of the die. When the material thus subjected to pressing is taken out from the sealed container 3, the small round hole 2 is deformed into the crack, and therefore, a sample piece having necessary form and wall thickness is cut from the material. In this way, the desired simulation microcrack material can be obtained easily by means of the existing device.
