PURPOSE:To reduce the cost by irradiating an electron beam on air to form O3 and O atoms, introducing the air into waste gas to oxidize NO, and absorbing SOx and NO2 by a wet method in a method for removing simultaneously NOx and SOx. CONSTITUTION:Waste gas from a gas generator 1 is cooled and removed from dust in a dust collecting and cooling device 2. Meanwhile, air is supplied into an electron beam irradiation reactor 11 from an air injection pipe 12, and an electron beam is irradiated from an electron accelerator 13 to convert O2 in air into O3 and O atoms. The air is introduced into the waste gas flowing through a duct 6 from an oxidizing air pipeline 14. The NO in the waste gas is oxidized to NO2 by the O3 and O atoms, and the waste gas flows into a wet absorption tower 7 wherein NOx and SOx are absorbed and removed. By this constitution, the power consumption is reduced as compared with O3 generation by silent discharge.
