A temperature taking device (1) comprising a thermometric probe cooperates with an automatic ovulation detector (2) which is provided with means (4, 5, 6) to calculate the successive values of two changing averages of temperatures detected by the probe, and comparator means (7-19) to analyse those two mean values in order to automatically detect the beginning of the ovulation which corresponds to a temperature increase. The advantage of the apparatus is that it provides informations deduced from the objective verification of the temperature increase accompanying the beginning of the ovulation.
