The sowing machine comprises a frame (1) carrying a seed dispensing unit (2,14), a leading pressure wheel (3), a forked coulter (4,12), and intermediate pressure wheel (5). A mould bar (6) is suspended on chains (7), with a trailing pressure wheel (11). - The frame further carries an adjustable vertical rod (8) between the wheels (5,11) behind the bar. This rod is pref. vertically adjustable in a holder (9) which may itself be adjustable along a transverse frame member. The rod dia. is pref. 8-25mm, e.g 15mm.
